Ruby Maxine (Babcock) McMahel

January 7, 1944 - October 16, 2014

Ruby Maxine McMahel, 70, Paoli, passed away October 16, 2014 at her home.  She was born January 7, 1944 in Paoli, the daughter of Rufus and Alma Mae Simpson Babcock, who preceded her in death.  She married Gerald "Tiny" McMahel on March 31, 1962 and he survives.

She retired from the Paoli Shoe Factory.  She was a member of the Alton American Legion Auxiliary Post # 133 and she attended Paoli Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jeffrey McMahel of Paoli & Kevin McMahel of Florida; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; seven sisters - Linda Dixon, Sharon Bangs and Jeannie Ottersbach, all of Borden, Maria Miller of Clarksville, Lydia Downs of Floyd Knobs, Judy Everage of Sellersburg and Jayne Thorne of Henryville; four brothers, W.R. "Bob" Criswell and Mike Small, both of Georgetown, David Small of Florida and Eddie Small of Charlestown.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Babcock, and one sister, Donna Small

Funeral services were conducted Oct 21 at McAdams Mortuary, Paoli.  Officiating the service was Bro. Donald Laird.  Burial was at English Cemetery.
